It has been exactly a year since my last blog post, and boy oh boy has it been one hell of a ride. But, for good or bad, I am back. Blaq and Gold blog is back.

Back with short deets about life as a late twenties girl, long complaints about work and boys, confusing tales about hair and mental health, and personal stories that should be reserved for my therapist. I am back with all of it. May the pen indeed be mightier than the sword.
In the short *coughs* twelve months I’ve been incognito, I have loved, lost, loved again, lost again, learnt about astrology, cohabited, had intense conversations about intense topics, learnt about my attachment style (disorganized, anxious avoidant, big surprise), seen my family exactly three times, organized a friend’s bridal shower, gotten covid, faced job insecurity, learnt to drive (finally innit), got my second tattoo, and then some. Will I speak on all of these? Perhaps not. But the ones that left a mark will definitely be written about.

Speaking of writing, this would be the perfect time to remember and appreciate one of the greatest to ever do it. The woman who introduced me and many others to feminism with her book, ‘Feminism is for everybody’ said this (and this, dear friends, is my personal quote of the year 2022) “No black woman writer in this culture can write ‘too much.’ Indeed, no woman writer can write ‘too much’… No woman has ever written enough.” The cultural shift that was Ms bell hooks will NEVER be undone. May she rest in perfect peace.
With all that said, dear friends, I am back. Back to writing, back to sharing, back to learning and back to healing. May this year be kind and gentle to us. And may we be kind and gentle to ourselves
